Thousands and Thousands of Pumpkins everywhere.
October 30th, 2008
Halloween is tomorrow, and although Australians do not celebrate Halloween, it is one of my favourite holidays. Can you believe that I have never carved a pumpkin?
I would love to be in the little town of Kenova in West Virginia just to visit the famous “Kenova Pumpkin House”. For 30 years now the house owner Ric Griffith, and hundreds of volunteers, sit to the massive task of carving the approximate 3000 pumpkins, and then decorating the house. The phenomenal thing is Ric estimates that he personally has carved over 25,000 pumpkins since 1978 - woah!! He hardly sleeps at all during the month of October… obviously. One of the highlights this year are the pumpkin instrument carvings that light up to a computerized musical program - amazing.
… AND he is also the Mayor of Kenova and the pharmacist at his own chemist in the town…
