“Miles Storm” my little Mini-Me Decides to Join us Early.
September 30th, 2010
On Thursday September the 16th I went to New York Presbyterian hospital, very early in the morning, for a routine ultrasound to see how the little guy in my tummy was doing. Everything seemed fine until the Doctor walked in and told me that I had low amniotic fluid and that I was going to be walked over to “Labor and Maternity” where a c-section would be performed on me as soon as possible. Yes, my little muffin was coming out 3.5 weeks earlier than planned!!
I will not lie if I say I was not scared, I was petrified. It was so unexpected, but at the same time I was really quiet glad to have him come out early. There was no harm to him as babies are actually considered full term at 36 weeks anyway. There was also no sure reason why I had low amniotic fluid, it happens in a lot of pregnancies.
Miles Storm was born at 5.40PM weighing in at just under 6 Pounds, and boy did he scream!! Who would ever think that hearing a baby scream could evoke such emotion. I was so happy to hear his screaming that I could not stop crying myself.
My little Mini-Me is named “Miles” as he is miles away from his second home in Australia, and “Storm” as he was born smack in the middle of a tornado/storm hitting Brooklyn and Manhattan! It is typical of my Son to be born in the middle of a tornado really!
He is a beautiful boy…. I know I know… all Mums say that about their children!! He doesn’t cry hardly at all and he loves to sleep, apparently just like me when I was a baby!
I am adapting to my life as a new Mum very well, although getting used to the 4 hour sleep breaks is a bit tough at times, he makes it all very worth it.
