“Moko” the dolphin RULES New Zealand.
March 12th, 2008
This is an amazing story about MOKO the Bottlenose dolphin who resides in Mahia Beach; a beautiful seaside town in New Zealand who once again Is living up to being the beautiful and compassionate creature she is by saving 2 Beached Pygmy Sperm Whales confused and stranded on the Beach.
MOKO is famous around Mahia Beach (and now the Whole World) for playing in the surf with swimmers, pushing kayaks with her snout and approaching boats to be patted and cooed over.
Conservation workers had almost given up after trying for nearly 2 hours to save the 3 Metre long Mum and her 1.5 Metre long baby calf, and had made the painful decision of putting the 2 of them to sleep to save their pain and suffering.
MOKO seeming to communicate with the whales ended up intervening though saving the 2 Whales, just as if she had grabbed them by their flippers, leading the 2 of them down the beach and into a channel thus guiding them out to the freedom of the Sea.
MOKO swam back to play with the locals at the beach in the water not long after. The Mum and her Baby have not been since, which is a good thing!
See below for a photo of Moko and an amazing youtube of her swimming and playing with the locals.

On another note Japan today started slaughtering thousands of dolphins. Please go to the link below and sign the petition to stop the slaughter. I will so appreciate it.
In Japanese villages each year, local fishermen hunt for large numbers of dolphins by herding them into shallow coves and then, scientists say, attacking them with knives and even eviscerating them alive.
SAVE THE JAPANESE DOLPHINS

I am a Vegan not because I do not like the taste of meat and fish, but because it breaks my little heart to know that I am participating in the killing of beautiful animals on a mass scale. I have been this way for 15 years with no problems what so ever!!!
